The teacher, the ladder
There is a passage in Wittgenstein’s Tractatus logico-philosophicus that uses a ladder as a metaphor. Teaching, for me, has a lot to do with being a ladder. The teacher provides the support, and some guidance, but then the students have to take the steps and climb - and when they’re up, the ladder must be content with having served its purpose.
